Ever since she could use her voice, Brittney LaBelle used hers to sing. Her passion for music and performing arts began when she was young and has only grown stronger. First, she took theatre and music classes at the University of Northern Colorado, Pikes Peak Community College, and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Also, from middle school on, she sang in the school’s choir and auditioned for the musicals and plays.
Subsequently, in her freshman year of high school, she started training with her first private voice instructor. Since then she studied with four others, loving and learning something from each of them. Her voice instructors bolstered the joy and passion she had for singing even more and helped her decide to share that joy with others. Brittney hopes to spread and emphasize the importance of music as well as help students find their voice so that they may fall in love with music as she has.
Through her experience with her private voice instructors, as well as her teachers and college professors, Brittney has learned the importance of good posture, proper breathing, and other singing specific techniques. She hopes to educate her students in the same way by promoting healthy ways to sing and encouraging them to find their own singing style, be it musical theatre, folk, jazz, etc., all the while strengthening their skills and confidence.
Mostly, she wants her students to have fun and be creative with music. Music has the power to move people, to make them feel things or take them places they’ve never been. When a person sings, they have the ability to manipulate emotion and make his or her audience feel exactly what the singer is emoting. It is a beautiful and powerful gift to be able to sing. Brittney hopes to encourage students to use their voice, be creative, and express themselves through their own musical language.
